About Us

The Gallery features ceramic artists specialising in many different techniques (wheel formed, slip cast, hand built, functional ware, sculpture) and using a variety of clay recipes from earthenware and raku to high fired stoneware and porcelain.

A variety of firing styles and glazing techniques are also used. Many ceramicists dig their own clay, combining elements to give them the body appropriate for their work, and may also mix their own glazes using a range of raw materials.

Ceramics is one of the most intriguing art forms to be found in contemporary art. The range of possibilities in one discipline gives rise to a fresh and exciting outlet for individual creativity. The complexity of combining clays with compatible glazes, suitable for different firing techniques presents challenges in a medium that is part art / part science. This contributes to the creation of a supportive ceramic community where information is shared, individuals are supported and the medium is celebrated.

In addition to our ceramic artists we feature contemporary painters, printmakers, jewellers and sculptors whose work is equally fresh, exciting and accessible. From cast bronze sculptures to intricate paperwork finished with encaustic, from blown glass pendants to flying lizard brooches, we present a showcase for a diverse group of artists who combine creativity and expertise in their chosen field.
